BACOLOD City – The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) will be hiking premium contributions by 4.5 percent next year.
Janimhe Jalbuna, PhilHealth Region 6 Public Affairs Unit head, said the increase is based on Republic Act (RA) 11223, or the Universal Healthcare Act.
Under RA 11223, PhilHealth contributions are to increase annually, which began back in 2020.
Despite the increase, PhilHealth will also implement new benefits to cover the increase, such as the “Konsulta Package” which would provide outpatient care and health services.
“May konsulta na kita, kun sa diin libre na ang inyo consultation, libre na ang diagnostics, libre na ang bulong, saan ka pa? Kinahanglan mo lang gid magpa-rehistro,” Jalbuna added.
Meanwhile, PhilHealth-6 Planning Unit head Michael Avelino said 2.8 million of the province’s 3.2 million total population are already registered members and dependents of PhilHealth.
Avelino is urging the remaining Negrenses to enroll with PhilHealth to avail themselves of the available health benefits./PN
