Police arrest over 4,500 crime suspects in nine months

ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has arrested 4,570 individuals wanted for various crimes across Western Visayas from January to September this year.

The arrests included 767 individuals wanted for heinous crimes, some of whom are among the region’s top 10 most wanted, PRO-6 records show.

The breakdown of arrests by various police offices is as follows:

* Aklan Police Provincial Office – 40 for heinous crimes, 208 for lesser offenses

* Antique Police Provincial Office – 79 for heinous crimes, 241 for lesser offenses

* Capiz Police Provincial Office – 83 for heinous crimes, 204 for lesser offenses

* Guimaras Police Provincial Office – 13 for heinous crimes, 91 for lesser offenses

* Iloilo Police Provincial Office – 206 for heinous crimes, 689 for lesser offenses

* Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office – 199 for heinous crimes, 1,745 for lesser offenses

* Bacolod City Police Office – 63 for heinous crimes, 283 for lesser offenses

* Iloilo City Police Office – 65 for heinous crimes, 291 for lesser offenses

* Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 – 4 for heinous crimes, 36 for lesser offenses

* Criminal Investigation and Detection Group – Regional Field Unit 6 – 15 for heinous crimes, 16 for lesser offenses

Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of PRO-6, praised the cooperative efforts of community members, other law enforcement agencies, and police personnel in tracking down and capturing the accused.

“We are grateful for the strong and continued support provided to us by our stakeholders. Their support is crucial in achieving these accomplishments,” said Wanky.

Wanky has directed his officers to persistently monitor the whereabouts of wanted individuals and to intensify operations against them. He emphasized the importance of vigilance and continuous enforcement, urging police chiefs to regularly review lists of persons with pending cases.

“I would like to remind my men to focus their operations against fugitives. We will not stop pursuing them; it’s better for them to surrender,” Wanky added./PN
