Police, military in WV vow to remain apolitical ahead of polls

ILOILO City — The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) and the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) have reaffirmed their commitment to neutrality and nonpartisanship as the May 12 midterm elections approach.

Major General Michael Samson, commander of the 3ID, assured the public that soldiers under his command are focused on their duties, particularly in ensuring security and pursuing the remaining members of the New People’s Army (NPA).

“I have instructed all our personnel to remain nonpartisan and concentrate on their law enforcement and anti-insurgency roles,” said Samson, adding that the division is also conducting offensive operations to maintain peace and order in the region.

Meanwhile, PRO-6 regional director Brigadier General Jack Wanky echoed the same stance, warning that political partisanship will not be tolerated within the police force.

“Any police officer found engaging in partisan political activity will face administrative sanctions,” Wanky said. “We are steadfast in upholding our neutrality and delivering honest service to the Filipino people.”

Wanky emphasized that the Philippine National Police (PNP) remains a professional institution committed to protecting communities and enforcing the law without bias./PN
