Politics is temporary. Truth is eternal.

IN THE Philippines today, corruption is deeply ingrained at every stage of governance. This flood related anomalies are just the tip of the iceberg. It is appalling that extreme greed is at the heart of every shenanigan in our government today.

What shocked the nation was that the Napoles scam, which we thought then was the most scheming mother of corruption to ever hit us was just sisiw, at piso-piso lang when compared to this current huge flood control anomalies. And we are barely seeing yet its surface.

The tragedy of our nation is that too many leaders treat their positions as personal kingdoms. They used the seats they occupy to keep what is not theirs. They abuse the trust of the people.

Because no wrongdoing ever outlast the verdict of history, the towers of wealth built on stolen funds will eventually crumble and crush its bearers. The applause of the tuta na nagbulagbulagan will fade. The power that shields corruption today will not shield the corrupt tomorrow. Political power has an expiration date. Truth does not.

Power expires. Truth lives on to shame the greedy.

No dynasty, no dictator, no corrupt official can outlive the truth. The politician’s stolen wealth will ultimately betray him. His cronies will scatter. His name will be dragged through the mud of history. And when he is buried, he will carry nothing but the stench of his own corruption for him and his family. Greed that kills will be forever in the epitaph of the greedy and corrupt.

The truth, however, will still stand—cold, sharp, searing and eternal.

Look at our history. Every tyrant who once pretended to be invincible eventually fell. Every thief in government eventually faced the verdict of truth. They may silence critics, jail whistleblowers, and buy courts, but the truth always returns—louder, stronger, and deadlier than before.

Truth is a deadly poison for the corrupt. Every despot who faded and died was finally bitten by it. There is no escape from the truth.

The corrupt may laugh now, but they cannot laugh forever. The applause of the proud and thieves will fade. The façade of lies will crack. Their faces and modus will be unmasked, their families haunted by the stench of dishonor. For dirty politics carries its stench of mud in all seasons. And truth will always haunt the greedy and the abusive mighty.

Let us remember this: entitlements are temporary, but accountability is eternal. The corrupt cannot cheat history. They can steal their daily bread from corrupted sources, but they cannot steal their judgment day before God who sees everything they have ever done. They can cover up scandals, but they cannot bury the truth. Truth will be the final venomous poison they can never get away. To be bitten back by the truth is their destiny. No stylish greed can escape it.

Truth is fire. And when the fire comes, it consumes everything that is false, leaving only what is real.

Yes, the corrupt may win some today, but they will ultimately lose their stolen coffer and shame will be their share forever.

For the gains of politics are fleeting, but the judgement of truth is eternal. And in what matters most, there is no bribery, no propaganda, no cover-ups, no denial —only judgment that cannot be overturned. Truth outruns falsehood anytime, any day, anyway, for truth is eternal./PN
