BACOLOD City – Consumer rights watchdog Power Watch Negros (PWN) asked Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO) when would the latter refund customers with P238-million “over-recoveries” covering the period of February 2004 to December 2017.

Wennie Sancho, PWN secretary-general, said consumers are getting frustrated.

CENECO had earlier assured that it would comply with the order of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to refund consumers.

Buy according to Sancho, CENECO is planning to file a motion for reconsideration and/or clarification with ERC on the implementation of refund.

“(CENECO0s) corporate planning manager, Engineer Norman Pollentes, earlier said they will start implementing the refund during this month’s billing. The question is ‘where is the refund?” asked Sancho said.

Sancho said any motion for reconsideration or clarification with the ERC on the refund cannot stay the execution of such refund as ordered by RC.

“The consumers will claim the refund which is rightfully theirs, this is the result of overcharging or mismanagement on the part of CENECO,” Sancho said./PN
