ILOILO City – More than 100 executives of private electric distribution utilities nationwide are converging here for the September 10-12 General Membership Meeting of the Private Electric Power Operators Association (PEPOA), with the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) set to conduct a major public consultation among key energy sector stakeholders during the gathering.
PEPOA is a nationwide organization composed of privately-owned distribution utilities (DUs) franchised to operate electric distribution systems.
Hosted by MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power), the three-day meeting carries the theme “Embracing the Future: Integrating Smarter Energy Innovation.”
The ERC consultation, a major highlight slated for today, September 11, at the Iloilo Convention Center (ICON), will see ERC commissioners Floresinda B. Digal, Marko Romeo L. Fuentes, Amante A. Liberato, and Paris G. Real engage distribution utilities on regulatory measures meant to promote sustainable energy development while safeguarding consumer welfare.
Discussions will highlight smart metering, renewable energy integration, and other cutting-edge technologies designed to ensure reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity across the Philippines.
“This forum is a powerful convergence of minds with a mission where every idea and decision will spark solutions,” said Roel Z. Castro, president and chief executive officer of MORE Power and host of the event.
“Through embracing smarter energy innovations today, we are lighting the way for the next generation. If we unite as one energy family, we can illuminate not just homes and industries, but the nation’s future,” he said.
PEPOA president Atty. Ranulfo Ocampo is steering the association’s efforts to shape policies that enhance the capabilities of private distribution utilities.
The group is committed to upholding the highest standards of electric service, fostering cooperation among private electric utilities, and collaborating closely with government agencies to address industry challenges.
