ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) arrested 61 drug peddlers who yielded around P27.6 million worth of shabu in the week-long anti-illegal drugs drive across the region.
From October 15 to 21, various police units executed 57 operations which resulted to the confiscation of 4,060 grams of shabu.
In an interview with Panay News, Brigadier General Jack Wanky, PRO-6 director, said his men responded to his call to intensify the campaign against high-value individuals who are carrying large volume of illegal drugs.
“I want more operations would be conducted and we have to strengthen our barangay intelligence network to have more information of the suspects’ Illegal activities,” Wanky said.
The Iloilo City Police Office and Bacolod City Police Office led the week-long operations with P11,832,000 worth of shabu seized and 22 arrests and P10,331,240 worth of shabu recovered and 11 arrests, respectively.
All arrested suspects are now under police custody, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
“We are grateful for the support of our partners. The success of our operations was attributed to this strong collaboration. As we intensify our war against this society’s menace, I urge all our operatives to conduct in-depth investigation, validate thoroughly all received information, and coordinate and collaborate with our stakeholders to ensure successful arrests of those found engaging in illegal activities,” Wanky added./PN
