PRO-6 nets P1.8-M worth of drugs, 7 suspects in a day

ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) arrested seven drug suspects and seized P1.8 million worth of illegal drugs in a single day of operations across Western Visayas.

On August 13 alone, five anti-drug operations were carried out, leading to the arrest of three high-value individuals (HVIs) and four street-level targets, according to PRO-6 records.

The operations yielded 61 plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 259 grams, valued at P1.8 million, and nine sachets of marijuana weighing about four grams, worth P480.

The biggest haul was in Barangay Baldoza, La Paz, Iloilo City, where a security guard identified as alias “Sazkie,” 32, of Carles, Iloilo, was caught with 200 grams of suspected shabu valued at P1,360,000.

In a separate buy-bust operation in the same barangay, police arrested aliases “Leon,” 53, and alias “Ran-Ran,” 49, both residents of La Paz, after seizing P340,000 worth of shabu from them. All three are classified as HVIs.

PRO-6 director Brigadier General Josefino Ligan commended the efforts of the operating units, saying the results underscore the police’s unwavering commitment to ridding Western Visayas of illegal drugs.

“This accomplishment shows the dedication of our police officers in safeguarding our communities from the scourge of illegal drugs. We will continue to intensify our operations until every barangay in the region becomes drug-free,” Ligan said./PN
