
ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6’s (PRO-6) ramped up drive against illegal drugs in January this year resulted in the confiscation of approximately P45 million worth of illicit substances and the arrest of 344 suspects.
Data from PRO-6 showed that around 6,360 grams of shabu valued at P43.2 million and 15,024 grams of marijuana worth P1.8 million were seized from 265 operations conducted across the region.
Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) had the biggest haul, confiscating P17.76 million worth of illegal drugs, followed by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) with P11.73 million worth of illegal substances seized, and the Iloilo Police Provincial Office with P7.2 million worth of recoveries.
Meanwhile, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office recorded the highest number of arrests at 133 individuals, or 38.7% of the total figure. ICPO and BCPO apprehended 81 and 73 drug suspects, respectively.
All suspects were under police custoddy, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky, PRO-6 director, commended the police personnel’s unwavering commitment to curbing drug-related crimes and maintaining peace and order in the region.
