NEGROS Occidental — Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) has captured the region’s Top 5 most wanted person in a successful manhunt operation on Wednesday, September 17, at Purok Proper North, Barangay Taloc, Bago City.

Alias “Wilcky,” a 21-year-old truck driver and resident of the city, was arrested on charges of rape through sexual assault, allegedly committed against his minor niece.

The arrest was carried out by the Bago City Component Police Station (CCPS) tracker team under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Roberto A. Mupas, chief of police, through the strength of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Llewellyn Fiel Bonghanoy of the Family Court, Branch 9 in Bago City.

Authorities said the accused was properly informed of his constitutional rights and the provisions of the Anti-Torture Law in a language he fully understood. The arrest was documented using two body-worn cameras to ensure transparency and accountability.

The suspect is now under the custody of Bago CCPS for proper legal disposition.

The court recommended a P180,000 bail bond for his temporary freedom.

PRO-NIR, in a statement, reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety under its campaign, “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Ang Gusto ng Pulis, Ligtas Ka!”

It also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or unlawful activities, stressing that community cooperation is key to building a safer and more peaceful Negros Island. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
