 BACOLOD City – President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed a son of former mayor Monico Puentevella to the Board of Directors of the government-owned and -controlled John Hay Management Corp.

The JHMC is the management arm of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority at the John Hay Special Economic Zone and the John Hay Reservation Area.

A member of the BCDA Group, it is mandated to develop the reservation as a premiere tourist destination in northern Philippines.

“Pursuant to the provisions of existing laws, you are hereby appointed member, Board of Directors of JHMC,” Duterte told Monico “Nikki” Puentevella Jr. in an appointment letter dated Feb. 8.

BCDA chairman Gregorio Garcia III also wrote Puentevella Jr. on Feb. 13 to formally inform him of the appointment. “I am pleased to inform you that you have been appointed to the position by [the] President,” Garcia said.

Puentevella Jr., who is replacing Cesar Oracion, told Panay News they renew their terms every July 1. They serve at the pleasure of the president, he added.

In 2009 then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo also appointed Puentevella Jr. as director of the Philippine Postal Bank, Inc./PN
