ILOILO City – Peddlers of illegal drugs have found a way to do business that they believe reduce the risk of them getting detected and caught – do transactions via mobile phone-based messaging applications.
According to Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RDEU-6) chief, Police Lieutenant Colonel Mark Anthony Darroca, drug pushers also contact or update one another via these messaging applications’ group chat feature.
Street level pushers place orders via group chat then the item is delivered through courier services; the payment is done through GCash.
“They use modern communications technology. Tanan online or thru social media, pati na ang bayranay,” said Darroca.
“But ang GCash payment pabor sa amon. Once madakpan namon ang isa ka drug pusher, makita namon sa ila cellular phone ang mga transactions, madasig namon mabal-an kun sin-o sender kay may GCash number,” said Darroca./PN
