The traffic aide was 49-year-old Miguel de Asis of Barangay Caingin, La Paz district. A former councilman in Barangay Caingin, he had been working as a traffic auxiliary for almost eight years now.

De Asis died of head injuries on Thursday night on Iznart Street.

The delivery truck, driven by Segunla, hit the center-island railings about 7:40 p.m. then de Asis who was managing traffic at the time.

It was later found out that Segunla had not been authorized by CPT Mart to drive the truck but did so on his own. He lost control of the truck while maneuvering to park it./PN
