RHIAN Ramos expressed her openness to a possible reunion with former leading man Richard Gutierrez as she recently renewed her contract with GMA Network nearly two decades since she first became a Kapuso.
Ramos’ introduction to Philippine showbiz began when she was cast as Gutierrez’s leading lady in the 2006 action series “Captain Barbell.” They later collaborated on more projects, including “Lupin” (2007), “Codename: Asero” (2008), “Zorro” (2009), “The Promise” (2007), and “My Valentine Girls.” (2011).
Ramos met with the press for a sit-down on Tuesday, August 12, after her contract signing renewal with the network’s big bosses. Though there hasn’t been an official project set with Gutierrez, the Kapuso actress revisited their pairing that shaped her career back in the day.
When asked for her thoughts on working with Gutierrez again, Ramos was keen on the idea, explaining that “she’s a different person now.”
“We worked on several shows before. I think it would be great [to work with him] again. Because [those projects] were the beginning of my career. And to be honest, at that time, I didn’t know what I was doing yet. So I would love to work with him again because I feel like I’m a completely different person. So [if ever] it’s going to be very new, different, and kind of weird, maybe,” she said.
Given that her contract renewal with GMA opens up more projects on the horizon, Ramos also named Anne Curtis as the actor she hopes to work with in the future, given that GMA and ABS-CBN are now more open to collaborative projects.
Coincidentally, Curtis and Gutierrez dated for over a year in the early 2000s. Despite their breakup in 2004, they remained on good terms.
Meanwhile, Ramos, who began her career at 16 years old, remained grateful that she was able to shy away from “big controversies” in her nearly two decades in the industry. (Jessica Ann Evangelista © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
