ILOILO – A sexagenarian succumbed to a fatal head injury in a road rage incident in Barangay Ardemil, Sara town on Tuesday night, May 16.
Rogelio Panes Pacumba, a widow and resident of the place, was a backrider on a motorcycle driven by Marcelino Palomaria.
The suspect is identified as Rommel Hocalia Dopit, 48, of San Dionisio town but temporarily resides in Barangay Ardemil.
Sara Municipal Police Station (MPS) chief Major Aldren Lamera, in a radio interview, said the strife between the two began along the highway in Barangay Pasig, Sara. Upon reaching Barangay Ardemil, a confrontation ensued, and the suspect suddenly hit the victim with his helmet.
Pacumba was rushed to the Sara District Hospital but was pronounced “dead on arrival” by the attending physician.
Dopit is presently under the custody of Sara MPS./PN
