BACOLOD City – The city government is now accepting nominations for the 2024 Ang Banwahanon Award (ABA), the highest honor conferred by the city to civilians for their notable contributions to the community.
Established by City Ordinance No. 494 in 2009, the ABA recognizes individuals whose civic actions have significantly impacted the lives of Bacolodnons and have contributed substantially to the economic, cultural, sports, moral, or educational development of the city.
Rodel Parcon, executive assistant and ABA Secretariat, said nominations are open until May 24, 2024.
The award ceremony will be a highlight of the city’s Charter Anniversary celebrations on June 18.
According to Parcon, nominees must meet several criteria: they should have rendered services that are exemplary and selfless, serving as an inspiration and a model worthy of emulation by Bacolodnons and Filipinos alike.
As per the ordinance, eligible nominees must be Filipino citizens of good moral character, known probity, and integrity, and must have been residents of Bacolod City for at least 10 years. They should not have previously received the ABA and must be willing to serve the community or city when called upon.
