MANILA – The Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality has asked two courts for the appearance of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy during its hearings on October 23.
According to Sen. Risa Hontiveros, her office wrote to the Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 159 Judge Elma Mendoza Rafallo-Lingan and Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 106 Judge Noel Parel to make Quiboloy appear in the probe.
The panel’s investigation is on the alleged crimes against some women and children members of KOJC.
The hearing is a continuation of a previous investigation covering the alleged wrongdoings of Quiboloy, who is facing sex abuse and human trafficking cases.
“Quiboloy allegedly maintains a stable of women called ‘pastorals’ who occupy a prestigious position in the organization because they are tasked to perform special personal tasks and errands for him,” Hontiveros said.
The panel held hearings on January 23, February 19 and March 5. It stopped while waiting for Quiboloy to be arrested to attend the hearings.
Quiboloy, who filed his candidacy to run for Senate in next year’s elections, said the allegations against him were rehashed by disgruntled former members of the sect./PN
