SHUVEE Etrata deactivated her official X (formerly Twitter) account, days after earning backlash over a video of herself expressing sympathy for former president Rodrigo Duterte, which made rounds on social media.

Etrata’s X page cannot be accessed by netizens as of Sunday, Sept. 28.

The “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab” edition alum has nonetheless been active on Instagram, sharing some highlights of how she has been doing so far in a post on Saturday, Sept. 27.

Earlier this month, Etrata received backlash from netizens after a screen-recorded video expressing her sympathy for Duterte’s arrest by the International Criminal Court (ICC) last March went viral on social media.

For this, the former PBB housemate apologized, but said that she doesn’t want to be open about topics related to politics due to how “divisive” it was.

Etrata was then defended by her uncle and handler Yure and GMA senior vice president for programming, talent management, worldwide, and support group Annette Gozon-Valdes in separate posts, with the Kapuso executive reiterating that the rising star is not a “diehard of any politician.”

In a statement on her Facebook page on Sept. 26, Gozon-Valdes said she is “ready to offer [her] support” for Etrata, while reiterating that the “Pinoy Big Brother” alum has been “unfairly attacked” on social media.

“Please allow me to clarify an article going around… I am ready to offer my support to Shuvee, any of our artists, or any of my friends when they are wrongfully and unfairly attacked,” she said.

Without mentioning Duterte’s name, the GMA executive also claimed that Etrata is not a “die-hard” fan of any politician, and was merely giving her “personal observations.”

“Shuvee is not ‘die-hard’ for any politician. She has had very, very few (and short) posts that have political color in the past. She gave her personal observation and opinions on what she believed to be good acts and bad acts done by the [government],” she said.

Gozon-Valdes also urged netizens to “respect” Etrata’s stand, instead of “spreading hate and attacks.” (Hannah Mallorca © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
