SSS warns pensioners vs fixers

BACOLOD City – State-run Social Security System (SSS) has cautioned pensioners from dealing with fixers who are asking for commission from their loan application.

Lina Hilado, SSS-Bacolod head, said they received reports that pensioners were asked to pay as much as P2,000 as commission for the processing of their loan application with the pension fund.

These fixers, according to Hilado, were convincing pensioners to avail themselves of the agency’s enhanced Pension Loan Program.

She warned that these fixers even go house to house claiming to be SSS employees and asking for personal information.

“We cautioned pensioners that we don’t have that kind of personnel tasked to do a house-to-house visit,” clarified Hilado.

But she disclosed that they are conducting seminars as part of their information dissemination campaign in every barangays but they do it in a group.

According to Hilado, SSS pensioners can now borrow up to P200,000 which is equivalent to 12 month of their basic monthly pension under the enhancement PLP.

She reminded those who want to avail of the pension loan must personally apply in our branch offices nationwide.

Avoid transacting with fixers who promise to hasten your loan application but would take a pay cut from your loan proceeds, Hilado said./PN
