ILOILO City – A string of criminal complaints were filed yesterday against the three men who abducted a young couple at the parking area of a mall in Mandurriao district.
Charges of carnapping with serious illegal detention, grave threats and rape by sexual assault were slapped against 22-year-old Sirius Jim Villareal of Barangay 7, Tigbauan, Iloilo and Reymund Cordero, 22 of Barangay Amamaros, Pototan, Iloilo.
The other suspect, Robert Tingson of Barangay Amamaros, Pototan, was charged with carnapping with serious illegal detention and grave threats.
All the complaints were filed at the Iloilo City Prosecutor’s Office under Ma. Elena Hofileña-Gerochi.
Villareal was also charged yesterday before the Iloilo Provincial Prosecutor’s Office for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, specifically illegal gun possession.
A 12-gauge shotgun was recovered from Villareal when he was arrested in Barangay Puerto Princesa, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo.
Villareal is now detained at the Special Intensive Care Area of the Iloilo District Jail (IDJ) in Barangay Nanga, Pototan, Iloilo. He has another rape case filed in 2015.
Senior Inspector Abner Zamora, IDJ warden, assured the suspect of his safety.
Tingson and Cordero, meanwhile, were detained at the Mandurriao police station.
Victims Marc Ymel Jocson, 22, of La Paz district and his 24-year-old girlfriend from Barangay Hibao-an, Mandurriao were abducted on Monday around 6:30 p.m. at the parking area of a mall in Mandurriao district.
Hours after, the woman managed to escape while in Banate town after she was sexually abused. She sought the police’s help.
Responding cops rescued Jocson and arrested Villareal – and later Cordero – in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo.
Tingson was caught in Anilao.
Cordero and Tingson claimed Villareal was the mastermind.
Villareal, however, insisted he only served as driver of the two men and Cordero planned the abduction./PN
