KALIBO, Aklan – Six provincial delegations in the region are now gearing up for the 2024 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet, which will take place from May 2 to 7, 2024, in Negros Occidental.
The regional sports meet is hosted by the provincial government and the Schools Division of Negros Occidental and co-hosted by the Schools Division of Bacolod City.
Student-athletes from Iloilo, Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental are gearing up for the school sports gathering with the theme “2024 WVRAA Meet: Nurturing Champions for the World.”
For this year’s WVRAA edition, 15 sports disciplines will be played at the elementary level, 32 events at the secondary level, and four Paragames events for learners with disabilities, while dance sports and pencak silat will be showcased as demonstration sports.
The billeting schools are Andres Bonifacio Elementary School I and II (Iloilo), Educational Training Center School I, II, and III (Capiz), Bacolod City National High School (Aklan), Doña Corazon Montelibano Elementary School (Guimaras), and Mansilingan Agro-Industrial High School (Antique).
The host province will be billeted at Negros Occidental High School, and the officiating and non-officiating personnel at Rizal Elementary School.
The parade and opening ceremonies will be held at Pana-ad Park and Stadium on May 2, 2024.
Meanwhile, the in-house training of selected Aklan student-athletes will start on April 15.
The billeting quarters for athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, and chaperons will be at Kalibo Elementary School, Kalibo Pilot Elementary School, and Kalibo Integrated Special Education School in Kalibo, Aklan./PN
