
BACOLOD City – Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts clinched the crown in the San Carlos City 65th Charter Anniversary Age-Group volleyball tournament held recently at the San Carlos Auditorium.
The Roberto Calamba Jr.-mentored Thunderbolts captured their championship after defeating Ballmovers squad in the one-game finale behind the strong showing of MVP and Best Outside Spiker awardee Mhegan Ordaniel.
Also recognized from the Thunderbolts squad are Duhbhe Medina as Best Setter and Cielo Palabrica as Best Libero.
Other members of Bacolod Tay Tung squad are Samantha Valenciano, Xyriz Canete, Chloe Depalubos, Lorainne Lim, Janselle Peromingan, Andrea Zed Chua, Jedyi Panizales, Ada Asin, Micayla Gonzales, Rayvien Guevarra and Jana Cadelina.
In the elimination round, the Thunderbolts defeated Scupva, Ballmovers, Sagay, and Blue Dragon before they turned back Talisay Elite in the semifinals round.
“Of course, I am happy with the performance of our team,” Calamba said after the championship. “These are still young players but they showed that they can keep in step.”
“This is just the start of the process for them. We will continue to mold them until someday they can be elevated into our senior team and later represent our region,” he added./PN
