
BACOLOD City – Bacolod Tay Tung High School emerged as champion in the elementary and juniors basketball of the NOPSSCEA Season 39 basketball at the STI-West Negros University gym here.
The Thunderbolts’ elementary team completed a three-peat via a 70-64 victory over the St. John’s Institute Baby Falcons on Sunday in a tightly contested championship match.
The players of the Thunderbolts’ elementary team were Dave Matthew Recodo, Adrian Alagaban, Chino Uy, Joachim Chuatico, Jovel Gonzales, Shenlee Arriesgado, Jann Francis Barcellano, Asha Carl Wang, James Li, Francis John Lamasan, William Malacad, Carlos Cacanata, Ern Bagay, Markus Severino, Karl Fernandez, Ronnie Medina Jr., and John Christopher Bejemino.
The Thunderbolts’ juniors team were also hailed as champion in the juniors division while players from its supposed opponent Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias were slapped with suspensions for their role in the “basketbrawl” with STI-West Negros University in the semifinals.
Following the investigation conducted by the NOPSSCEA Committee on Sports headed by Dr. Carlitos Orola, the committee found that both teams violated Article 39 of the 2018 Official Basketball Rules of FIBA.
Both teams were sanctioned with a game suspension apiece.
