Tay Tung’s Montalbo captures 2 medals in Singapore

MANILA – Bacolod Tay Tung High School swimmer Coraline Montalbo took home two medals in the Dragons Den International Invitational held recently at UWC East Campus in Singapore.

Montalbo, who is representing the country overseas for the second time, captured the gold medal in the 13-14 girls category of 200-meter butterfly with a personal best time of 2:44.59.

Montalbo also had a bronze medal in the 200-meter individual medley (2:46.58), while she fell short of a podium finish in the 100-meter butterfly event (1:12.46), good for fourth place.

Her medal performances came after she recently being included to the national training pool under the supervision of the Philippine Finswimming Federation Inc. (PFF).

Montalbo, a many-time gold medal winner while representing Tay Tung in various competitions, is now regularly training in Metro Manila as part of the pool.

Weeks ago, Montalbo captured two gold medals in the Filipino Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation (FCAAF) National Inter-School Games held in Manila 

She emerged on top in the girls’ 14-to-16 year old 200-meter butterfly event with a record-setting time of two minutes and 45 seconds.

Montalbo also captured a gold medal in the girls’ 14-to-16 year old 100-meter butterfly event earlier in the competition./PN
