BACOLOD City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental advised the public to remain vigilant after receiving reports of a new terror threat.

A local newspaper published during the weekend said Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Bacolod commander Lieutenant Jimmy Oliver Vingno revealed that they received an intelligence report saying seven car bombs are being transported from Mindanao bound for Metro Manila.

Vingno stated that the vehicles are traveling via Visayas using roll-on/roll-off vessels.

The vehicles reported to be used as car bombs were black Toyota Hilux, white Nissan Sentra, black Toyota Land Cruiser, black Honda Civic, gray Toyota Vios, black Isuzu DMax, and black Toyota Innova.

Negros Occidental governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. urged the public to report suspicious individuals and events to the police.

The governor also ordered the PCG to strictly check the entry of all vehicles at the ports of Negros Occidental in San Carlos City, Banago Port and Bredco Port in Bacolod, Escalante City, Pulupandan town, Sagay City, and Dumaguete City.

Meanwhile, the governor also stressed that evacuees from Marawi City are welcome to seek temporary shelter in the province, but law enforcement agencies should step up their background checks on the individuals./PN
