Top PRO-6 brass test negative in surprise drug screening

ILOILO City – In a development that reinforced accountability from the top ranks, key officials of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) tested negative for illegal drug use during a surprise drug test conducted on June 27 at Camp General Martin Teofilo Delgado’s Madia-as Hall here.

The unannounced drug screening covered the PRO-6 Command Group, Regional Staff and Deputies, Provincial and City Directors, the Force Commander of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6, and chiefs of regional support units.

Leading by example, PRO-6 regional director Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan himself underwent testing alongside the top brass.

“This initiative sends a strong message — integrity starts at the top,” Ligan emphasized. “We must be the embodiment of the values we demand from every member of the police force.”

The test forms part of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) intensified internal cleansing efforts and supports the reform agenda of new PNP chief General Nicolas Torre III, who advocates for a more accountable and modern police force.

Ligan said the negative results affirm the professionalism and discipline of PRO-6’s leadership, adding that these efforts are crucial in strengthening public confidence in law enforcement.

PRO-6 reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on illegal drugs, stressing that those in positions of authority must be beyond reproach and serve as role models in the campaign against drugs./PN
