ILOILO City – Uniwheels started strong in the Mayor Jerry P. Treñas Basketball Tournament. It posted a 106-81 victory over Asialink/E & C Trucking at the Jaro Gymnasium here.
Led by former University of Perpetual Help Altas import Prince Eze, Uniwheels dominated the Asialink from start to finish to take the early edge in the pocket tournament’s standings.
Meanwhile, the Guimaras Leopards also had a winning start. It walloped the Estancia Mariners, 95-90.
Jefry Espinosa played a key role in the Leopards’ victory particularly in the fourth period.
In other results, ODM Sportswear relied on burly center Jesse Sullano to defeat TEJ Builders, 89-78, while J. Cordon DPWH edged P. Doce SBC-Iloilo Doctors College, 103-90.
After a week-long break, action resumes today, Dec. 27, with Uniwheels facing ODM Sportswear at 6 p.m. followed by the matchup between P. Doce SBC-Iloilo Doctors College and TEJ Builders./PN
