ILOILO City – Mayor Jerry P. Treñas has been made an honorary Knight Grand Officer of Rizal (KGOR), the second highest degree of the Knights of Rizal (KOR).
The KOR is a patriotic, nationalistic and chivalric fraternal organization formed to honor and uphold the ideals of national hero Jose Rizaly.
“It is really my honor and privilege to be conferred Honorary Knight Grand Officer of Rizal. I am proud of it. This will inspire me to work more and I also will help in the establishment of more chapters here in Iloilo City,” Treñas expressed.
Treñas’ conferment held on Monday, Feb. 6, at the City Mayor’s Office was led by Rafael Cresencio Tan Jr., Knights of Rizal’s regional commander for Central Visayas.
The Supreme Council of KOR cited Treñas for his outstanding achievements and contributions to the country.
“Rizal has always been a part of me — I always believe that one of our greatest Filipinos is Rizal not because he died but because of his ideals, his dreams for the Filipinos, especially for the youth, which are still relevant today,” the city mayor said./PN
