ILOILO City – Mayor Jerry P. Treñas is kicking off the first working day of the new year by checking the plans and programs of city hall departments today.
“Let us do better this year. Let us get inspiration from each other as we bring Iloilo City to the next level,” said Treñas.
He wanted city officials to be focused and reinvigorated.
“Let us see to it that the salaries and benefits given by the people of the city of Iloilo are well spent. Let us put in 100 percent of our efforts to improve services in our city,” said Treñas.
He vowed to make city hall more accessible to everyone.
Treñas reminded city hall employees in December of their respective roles and tasks that must have unity of purpose, sense of urgency and accelerated implementation.
“Kinahanglan may unity of purpose kag may ara kita sense of urgency. Ang tanan obrahon ta para matapos ta ang kinahanglanon naton para sa aton syudad. Kun kis-a pabuyan-buyan lang ta, nalipatan ta duha na ka bulan, tatlo na ka bulan, waay pa naton naobra ang aton obra,” said Treñas.
“Ngaa paobra ta ang mga plaza ta? Markets ta? Kag iban pa nga projects? Kay, ti, there is always a sense of urgency sa aton. Very limited resources but we can do so much,” he stressed.
For the city mayor, 2023 brings new hope, dreams and aspirations.
He described 2022 as a roller coaster ride for the Ilonggos. But despite the many challenges encountered, he said the Ilonggos always rose to the occasion and emerged victorious.
“We were able to achieve a lot for Iloilo City (in 2022) but we should not rest on our laurels. Instead let us be dedicated and persevere more,” he added./PN
