Tricycle driver killed in Lambunao stabbing incident

ILOILO – A 40-year-old tricycle driver was killed after being stabbed by a fellow driver during a heated altercation on Tuesday morning, September 23, in Barangay Walang, Lambunao town.

Police identified the victim only as alias “Porok”, a resident of Barangay Walang, while the suspect was named as alias “Mokmok”, also 40, from Barangay Caguisanan of the same town.

According to Police Captain Jose Winston Biadog, officer-in-charge of the Lambunao Municipal Police Station, the incident occurred around 7:20 a.m. when the two drivers crossed paths in Barangay Walang. The victim allegedly questioned the suspect about operating his tricycle despite having an expired franchise.

The confrontation escalated into a fistfight after the suspect alighted from his tricycle. Unaware that the suspect was carrying a knife, the victim was stabbed twice in the chest, resulting in his death.

Police said that as of press time a hot pursuit operation was ongoing to apprehend the suspect, who fled after the incident./PN
