ILOILO – Two 18-year-olds were caught with over half a million pesos worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Estancia town yesterday morning, June 17.
Aliases “PJ”, a laborer from Barangay Canturay, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental but temporarily staying in Estancia, was classified as a high-value suspect while “KJ”, a resident of the town’s Barangay Daculan, was tagged as a street-level target.
Officers of the Estancia Municipal Police Station’s (MPS) Station Drug Enforcement Team carried out the operation around 6:50 a.m. in Purok 3, Barangay Calapdan. Around 94 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P639,200 were confiscated.
Police Captain Kevin Amorio said the operation stemmed from weeks of surveillance based on reports from local residents. PJ was allegedly leading the drug distribution activities, sourcing illegal drugs from Iloilo City and Roxas City while KJ was reportedly involved in helping distribute the illegal substance within Estancia.
The suspects are now in the custody of the Estancia MPS, facing charges under Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002)./PN
