PASSI City — The highly anticipated clash between Adamson University Lady Falcons and Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles this weekend is more than just a tune-up — it is a homecoming showcase for Western Visayas’ very own volleyball standouts.

The two UAAP squads will collide on Saturday, September 20, at 5:30 p.m. at the City of Passi Arena in Iloilo, in a match open to the public. The showdown will also headline a twin-bill featuring Santa Clarita International School against the University of San Agustin, according to Gametime Sports founder Rodolfo Go Villaruz.

“Gametime is bringing a taste of UAAP volleyball action closer to the Ilonggos, and in the process, we are also helping the two teams prepare for their upcoming campaigns,” Villaruz said.

The Lady Falcons and the Blue Eagles will meet again on Sunday, September 21, at Bacolod National High School in Bacolod City. Unlike the Passi City game, tickets will be sold for the Bacolod leg at P450 for bleachers, P550 for courtside, and P750 for behind the bench.

Adding to the excitement, both teams will feature homegrown stars. Ateneo will parade Negrense spikers Katherine Shaine Cortez, Jihan Chuatico, Alex Montoro, and Dona Mae de Leon, along with Ilongga setter Ana Hermosura. Adamson, for its part, will be bannered by Alas Pilipinas standout Shaina Nitura and Ilongga libero Athea Aposaga under the guidance of Negrense coach JP Yude.

With the spotlight on local talents in top-flight collegiate competition, the weekend exhibition promises not just a taste of UAAP volleyball but a celebration of Western Visayas pride as Ilonggo and Negrense fans rally behind their own./PN
