Undermanned Pilmico/Salto loses to Modern Café

BACOLOD City — Undermanned Pilmico/Salto bowed to 365 Modern Café, 110-88, in Class A action of the Fil-Sino Intercompany Friendship Cup basketball game at Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

The Modern Café gave no mercy to Pilmico from the first to the final quarters.

It took the first quarter, 26-13, through Robbie Jalando-on six triples, and ended the first half, 56-33, with Livingstone Ang and Jose Miguel Montinola combining for 19 points.

Pilmico/Salto tried its best in the third quarter with Eugene Tsai, DK Equipaje, and Chiboy Uy contributing 19 points, but Michael Ang connected with five triples for a commanding 88-54 advantage going to the fourth quarter.

Jalando-on paced Modern Café with 22 points; Montinola added 17; Ang sunk 15; while Ryan Alegario had 12 points, and Ralph Ong, 10.

Pilmico was led by Tsai with 26; Joel Masadia added 20;. Equipaje and Chibun Uy, 18 apiece; and Arvin Chua, six.

Meanwhile, Class B top-seed Bacolod Steel remains undefeated in four games as it outscored Eversure Mktg. in all quarters, 82-53.

Bacolod Steel built its lead gradually in the first three quarters 19-16, 37-28, and 55-45, before pulling away in the fourth.

Bacolod Steel’s Keith Banzon top scored with 19; Jeremy Coo and Chief Insp. Adonis Rosales scored 10 apiece; Joshua Lao, nine; while Mark Yu and Jolly Castillo had eight each; and Simon Tan and Mark Javelosa, six each.

Atong Villanueva and Glenn Ye led Eversure with 11 apiece; Tubby Villanueva added nine; Joaquin Gochangco Jr., six; and Chipeng Uy, five./PN
