UPMG holds ad sales seminar

ILOILO City – Marketing executives and advertising sales agents from various print media companies that are members of the United Print Media Group (UPMG), as well as students from various universities gathered in one venue to intensify their knowledge on advertising sales.

The ad sales seminar was held last July 23 to 24 at the Manila Bulletin Auditorium.

Dubbed as “Communique: The Power of Advertising,” the two-day ad sales seminar spearheaded by UPMG tackled various topics concerning print media advertising, the things to consider when marketing their respective products and how to become an effective seller which were discussed by marketing experts from private companies and print media entities.

The speakers who shared their expertise were Creativilla chairman Dan Villa who discussed about the “Overview of Advertising Industry;” Globe Telecom senior vice-president for Corporate Communications Yoly Crisanto who tackled the difference between public relations and advertising sales; Myphone vice-president for Marketing and Business Development Richard de Quina who discussed how advertising sales is rewarding, and also gave his own experiences in the marketing industry; Salt and Light facilitator Emerito Pascual who gave a talk on the new advertising strategies for the new millennium; Philippine Association of National Advertisers (PANA) president Blen Fernando who discussed the roles and rules of Advertising Standards Council (ASC); and Ms. Philippines-Air 2014 Dianne Carmella Querrer who talked about social graces.

On the second day of the seminar, another group of marketing experts shared their knowledge to the participants. These were Globe Telecom vice-president for Communication Channels Bunny Aguilar who talked about “The New Media Marketing innovations;” Media Relations of National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Gina Lumauig who gave a talk titled “Public Relations vis-à-vis Advertising Sales;” Manila Bulletin head of External Affairs and vice-president of UPMG Barbie Atienza who discussed “Effective Communication;” Havas Media Ortega founder and CEO Jos Ortega who tackled “How Filipinos Consume Media?;” and Golden Potbelly Pig Corporation Marketing Director Miguel de la Rosa who gave a talk titled “Advertising Sales – is it rewarding? Testimonials to Success in Selling.”

With the expertise that the speakers shared, the participants were able to get new ideas on how they can intensify their advertising sales.

In addition, UPMG Ad Sales Seminar also gave them new marketing strategies and techniques which could be helpful for them to attain success in marketing.
