ILOILO City – The Uswag Ilonggo party-list inaugurated and turned over two key infrastructure projects to towns in Iloilo province on April 24.
Rep. James “Jojo” Ang first visited the town of Leon, where he led the turnover of a P10.5-million Pasalubong Center located in front of the municipal plaza.
The center, which will serve as a convenience hub for tourists visiting tourist spot Bucari, known as the “Little Baguio of Iloilo”, features amenities including restrooms of hotel standards, complete with provisions for persons with disabilities (PWD).
Ang highlighted the significance of the Pasalubong Center to both locals and tourists.
“This project is a priority for us, ensuring visitors have a comfortable stop before heading up the mountains,” he said.
In addition to the Pasalubong Center, Uswag Ilonggo has allocated an initial fund of P37 million for the construction of a multi-storey public market and another P5 million for the rehabilitation of the municipal plaza of Leon.
Mayor Ma. Lina Holipas expressed gratitude for the projects initiated by Uswag Ilonggo, planning to feature local products like mangoes and other souvenirs at the Pasalubong Center.
Following the event in Leon, Ang proceeded to the town of New Lucena to oversee the turnover of a P5-million multi-purpose building intended to house the Municipal Agriculture Office and provide a gathering place for farmers, irrigation associations, and other agricultural sectors.
Ang also committed to assisting in the repair of the municipal covered gym in New Lucena and discussed potential upgrades to the municipal auditorium with Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. and 2nd District’s Cong. Michael Gorriceta.
Mayor Liecel Mondejar-Seville of New Lucena thanked Ang for the funding which facilitated the replacement of a dilapidated building essential for the town’s agriculture sector./PN
