Village chief yields gun, ammos in Hamtic

A police officer is going over the items – a gun and bullets, among others – recovered from the house of the barangay captain of Caromangay in Hamtic, Antique.

HAMTIC, Antique – The police recovered a gun and ammunition from a village chief of Barangay Caromangay on Monday night, April 26.

Cops searched the house of Reynaldo Maza and found the following:

* a .45 pistol Colt with serial number

* a .45 pistol magazine

* five pieces of ammunition for .45

* a brown holster for .45 pistol 

For the raid, the police secured a search warrant (No. 03-2021-EJ) from Executive Judge Ernesto Abijay Jr. of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 10 (San Jose, Antique).

Maza failed to present documents to prove the legality of the items recovered, according to the police.

Maza was brought to the Hamtic police station.

The police was readying a charge for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act)./PN
