Villagers warned vs ‘twisted’ ideology

BACOLOD City – Do not be hoodwinked by the New People’s Army’s (NPA) “twisted ideology.”

The Philippine Army’s 79th Infantry Battalion (79IB) warned the people of Barangay Cambayobo, Calatrava, Negros Occidental about the deception of the NPA during an information drive against the insurgency on Feb. 12.

“Do not join or support the terrorists in any form,” said Lieutenant Colonel J-jay Javines, 79IB commander. “Do not allow yourselves to be deceived by their twisted ideology. It will not do you any good. It will destroy and make your lives and your families miserable.”

Days before the 79IB conducted the information drive, an NPA member identified as Jimmy Dela Cruz was killed presumably by his comrades after discovering his plan to surrender to the government.

Javines said the execution of Dela Cruz was the NPA’s way of warning active members planning to surrender.

“Let us join hands to unmask the true character of the terrorists,” Javines told the people of Barangay Cambayobo./PN
