ILOILO City – With the May 12 national and local elections fast approaching, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Iloilo City has intensified its election readiness drive by posting computerized voters’ lists (CVLs) in 37 polling centers across the city’s seven districts and unveiling a pilot mall voting program.

As of April 8, voter lists are now available for public viewing in major schools and voting centers in La Paz, Lapuz, Mandurriao, and Jaro districts.

The initiative is part of Comelec’s effort to encourage early voter verification and avoid confusion on election day.

“We urge the public to verify their registration details and precinct assignments early. This is key to ensuring a smooth and orderly voting experience,” said Iloilo City Election Officer Atty. Pinky Jevini G. Tentativa.

In addition to posting the CVLs, Comelec has conducted simultaneous inspections to assess the readiness and accessibility of polling places. These efforts are being coordinated with the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, Department of Education, and private sector partners.

Highlighting this year’s preparations is the first-ever implementation of mall voting in Iloilo City. Four shopping malls — SM City Iloilo, Festive Walk Iloilo, Robinsons Place Iloilo, and Robinsons Jaro — will serve as polling venues to offer voters more convenience, especially in a secure and air-conditioned environment.

“This is the first time that mall voting will be implemented in Iloilo City, and we are working closely with mall management and other agencies to ensure its success,” Tentativa said.

During a stakeholders’ briefing at the Iloilo City Police Office, election officials detailed security plans, emergency response procedures, and logistical arrangements to ensure the polls proceed without incident.

Comelec emphasized that posting the CVLs is not merely procedural — it is essential for transparency, voter education, and trust in the electoral process.
