MANILA – Sen. Nancy Binay wants less politicking in President Benigno Aquino III’s fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 28.

Binay told Panay News Aquino should be able to tackle poverty.

Gusto kong marinig kung paano magka-trickle effect ang economic growth. Sana mag-focus sa ganung mga programs,” Binay said in a telephone interview.

The neophyte senator is the eldest daughter of Vice President Jejomar Binay. She lamented that the country’s economic growth cannot be felt by the poor.

Binay said she expects Aquino to update Filipinos on the government’s rehabilitation efforts for the victims of super typhoon “Yolanda” in Eastern and Western Visayas, earthquake in Central Visayas and Zamboanga City siege.

Aquino must “announce” as to how many buildings were reconstructed and the “percent” of victims who have been relocated in typhoon-affected areas, she added.

Meanwhile, Binay said she will continue to push for her many advocacies when the 16th Congress opens its second regular session.

Ang pagtutuunan ko ay ang Magna Carta for Informal Workers as well as anything that pertains to women and children,” she shared.

Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. previously urged Aquino not to include as his “achievements” the detention of senators accused of funneling public funds in Janet Lim Napoles’ bogus non-organizational organizations.

“I am always a little bit nonplussed by the assumption that they are guilty. Let’s see what the trial will bring. We have to wait until we see the evidence,” Marcos said./PN
