WINWYN Marquez emerged as the candidate to watch out for at Miss Universe Philippines 2025, as she brought home nine special awards from the national tilt’s sponsors.
Marquez, who represents Muntinlupa in the national pageant, bagged the Miss Jell Life, Miss Clinique de Paris, Miss Aqua Boracay, Miss Wuling, Miss New Moon, Miss Mags, Miss Wendy’s, Miss So-en, and Miss Zion Philippines.
Heavy favorites Ahtisa Manalo of Quezon Province, and Yllana Marie Aduana of Siniloan, Laguna both won four special awards.
Other candidates who received special awards are Taguig’s Ma. Katrina Llegado, Sultan Kudarat’s Chelsea Fernandez, Siargao’s Millien Joy Cabigas, and Iligan City’s Juliana Fresado.
The preliminaries are a crucial part of the pageant as scores culled by the candidates from the swimsuit and evening gown competitions will be combined with their respective interview scores to determine who among them will advance to the semifinals.
The national costume competition was held yesterday at Okada, Manila.
The candidates with the highest scores from the judges and the delegates who will top the several online polls will comprise the semifinalists who will be announced during the coronation night on May 2 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. (Hannah Mallorca © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
