ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) reported the arrest of 69 suspects and the confiscation of nearly P7 million worth of suspected shabu in just two weeks.
From June 1 to 15, a total of 53 anti-illegal drug operations were launched across various provinces and cities in Western Visayas, yielding an estimated 1,024 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, and 14 high-value targets and 54 street-level suspects.
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) posted the highest number of arrests and biggest drug haul, accounting for 47 of the total arrests and over P3.66 million worth of illegal drugs seized. This was followed by the Capiz Police Provincial Office with confiscations amounting to P1.66 million, while the Iloilo Police Provincial Office recorded 10 arrests.
Authorities confirmed that charges have already been filed against the suspects for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of PRO-6, praised the collaborative efforts of police units and stakeholders.
“These accomplishments reflect the dedication and synergy among our operatives and community partners. We are committed to pursuing and dismantling illegal drug networks operating in the region,” he said.
Wanky added that efforts will continue with even greater intensity: “Those who persist in engaging in illegal drug activities will be closely monitored, and if necessary, subject to appropriate law enforcement action. The message is clear: there is no place for drugs in Western Visayas.”/PN
