ILOILO City – As President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. delivers his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) today, July 28, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has placed all units across Western Visayas on full alert.

PRO-6 raised its alert status to the highest level to ensure peace and order in the region, even as security efforts are largely concentrated in Metro Manila where the President is addressing Congress.

Police Brigadier General Jose Ligan, director of PRO-6, said that while no major threats have been reported, all police units are under strict orders to monitor public spaces and potential hotspots.

“Our commitment is to keep the people of Western Visayas safe. We are implementing these security measures not only in response to the SONA but as part of our broader mandate to protect our communities,” Ligan said.

He urged the public to remain calm and cooperative, particularly during public assemblies or demonstrations. While reaffirming that freedom of expression is a constitutional right, he emphasized that such activities must remain peaceful and within legal bounds.

PRO-6 also called on residents to report any suspicious activity to authorities, highlighting the crucial role of community cooperation in maintaining regional security and public safety./PN
