BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has been rewarded after hauling 3.20 kilos of suspected shabu valued at P20.5 million, the biggest single-operation seizure in Western Visayas this year.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez turned over the undisclosed amount to BCPO director Colonel Noel Alinio at the Bacolod City Government Center yesterday, Oct. 18.
“This reward is to motivate them to perform even better and for other work-related needs,” the mayor said.
Alinio said he plans to distribute the reward among the police personnel involved in the buy-bust operation at Purok Neptune, Barangay Singcang-Airport.
The BCPO’s City Drug Enforcement Unit led the operation that resulted in the arrest of Jummel “Tata” Camento, a resident of the barangay, at 3:14 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17.
According to Alinio, Camento is considered a high-value suspect and is a member of the Caunda Group. He had been apprehended back in 2012 for a similar violation under Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, but got released in 2022.
The arrested person is currently detained at Police Station 8.
The BCPO has implemented intensified measures for a secure and drug-free MassKara Festival 2023 celebration.
Brigadier General Sidney N. Villaflor, director of Police Regional Office-6, commended all the operating units.
“Ito po ang pinakamalaking tagumpay natin sa away kontra droga sa rehiyon,” added Villaflor./PN
