MANILA – Generika-Ayala Lifesavers continued to boost its roster heading into the 2018 Philippine Superliga season with three key acquisitions led by Bacolodnon April Rose Hingpit.

Hingpit, a former standout of the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City, will be a huge addition to the team’s setter position for the upcoming season, said Lifesavers chief operating officer Jay Ferrer.

“She is a setter that we can rely on to perform and bring her best whenever she is asked to play,” Ferrer said. “She also has a wide experience playing for Cignal and Petron before.”

Hingpit will also be the fifth Western Visayas-based player for Lifesavers aside from fellow former USLS player Patty Jane Orendain, Negrense Genevieve Casugod and Ilonggas Fiola Ceballos and Ma. Shaya Adorador.

Aside from Hingpit, Lifesavers also signed up Shiela Pineda and Marivic Meneses who is making a return to Generika franchise after spending a season with Petron.
“Meneses is one of the league’s strongest MH/MB. At her young age she has shown a lot of potential in her position and she can get even better,” said Ferrer. “Pineda is a two-way player, she can be a spiker and libero.”
Lifesavers are set to grace the Bingawan, Iloilo fiesta on Jan. 23. It is set to face the Central Philippine University – Western Visayas Selection in an exhibition match at the Bingawan Civic Center.
The exhibition game, free to the public, is being organized by the municipal government of Bingawan./PN
