ILOILO City – Powerhouse teams San Miguel Beermen and TNT KaTropa are set to slug it out in the 2017-2018 PBA Philippine Cup out-of-town game today at the University of San Agustin gym beginning at 5 p.m.
Beermen head coach Leo Austria is hoping his wards have regained their form after two close wins against Phoenix Fuel Masters and Meralco Bolts.

San Miguel currently has a 2-0 win-loss slate.

“Alam naman natin na lahat ng teams sa PBA kami ang gustong talunin at pinaghahandaan kami. Pero nakikita ko sa mga players…andun ‘yung pride na ‘no, hindi kami papatalo,’” Austria said.
But that’s not always going to be the case.

“Yung two previous games namin were a good lesson for us and those were a good test because you cannot rest until the buzzer sounds at the end of the game,” said Austria.
Meanwhile, KaTropa head coach Nash Racela is hoping to carry on the momentum from their 106-98 win over Alaska Aces last Dec. 29, 2017 against the still unbeaten Beermen.
“It is just nice for us to get the first win (before we face the Beermen),” said Racela, whose squad split its first two matches this season. “At least we will have the momentum heading to that match.”
Beermen is to be led by June Mar Fajardo, Arwind Santos, Chris Ross, Alex Cabagnot, Marcio Lassiter, Von Pessumal, Billy Mamaril, Chico Lanete, Louie Vigil, Michael Mabulac, Yancy de Ocampo, Keith Agovida, Brian Heruela, Matthew Ganuelas-Rosser, and David Semerad.

KaTropa is bannered by Jayson Castro, Jeth Troy Rosario, Roger Pogoy, Kelly Williams, Ryan Reyes, RR Garcia, Norbert Torres, Frank Golla, Anthony Semerad, Moala Tautuaa, Mark Tallo, Levi Hernandez, Alex Nuyles, and Sidney Onwubere.
The Beermen-KaTropa match is only the second official game of the PBA held in Iloilo City in the last two years.

Almost over a year ago, crowd favorite Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings and Meralco Bolts faced each other also at the USA Gymnasium, where Kings came out as the victor, 83-72./PN
