ROXAS City – The province of Capiz will again attract locals and tourists as it celebrates Capiztahan Festival 2017 from April 20 to 23.

Marking the 116th foundation anniversary of the civil government of Capiz and the commemoration of the 69th death anniversary of the province’s most illustrious son, President Manuel Acuña Roxas, the festival will include various fun-filled activities.

Preparations are already underway for the festivity as the provincial government has already conducted series of meetings to line up the activities.

Sadsad Capiz is a must-see event that will showcase Capiznon culture, pride and artistry through street dancing in mythical creatures and seafood costume.

“We want to be unique to create distinction from the famous Ati-Atihan and Dinagyang tribe for us to attract tourist. People will surely enjoy watching tribes in mythical creature and seafood costume dance to the beat of the drum,” Gov. Tony del Rosario said.

Each tribe will be composed of at least 30 street dancers excluding drumbeaters. To heat up the event, del Rosario has decided to make Sadsad Capiz a competition.

Meanwhile, innovations were introduced to the 5-year old Parade of Lights to charm the crowd. The dancers’ performance will include colorful LED lights while showcasing the products and stories of every local government unit.
