MANILA– The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers has finally secured the commitment of Bacolodnon big man Daniel Coo.

The 6-foot-5 Coo, who previously played for the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eaglets, will have five full years of eligibility when he suits up for the Growling Tigers in UAAP Season 84.

“I am grateful for the opportunity that the UST Growling Tigers has given me and I am really looking forward to my future with the UST community,” Coo told Panay News on Thursday night.

“I am not expecting anything. I just want to play for the Growling Tigers and contribute in any way that I can,” added Coo, who will be the third Negrense in UST’s seniors team aside from Mark Nonoy and Aldave Canoy.

Growling Tigers head coach Aldin Ayo, meanwhile, welcomed Coo’s decision to accept the offer of UST as he sees a bright future ahead for the Bacolodnon big man.

“Daniel is a welcome addition sa frontline ng UST. He has a potential and may plano ang UST para sa kanya,” Ayo said. “He cannot suit up for UST’s high school team kasi galing siya sa another UAAP school so sa college na lang siya lalaro for us.”

Prior to being recruited by the Blue Eaglets, Coo had previously played for the St. John’s Institute Falcons in Bacolod City and was named before as part of the Jr. NBA All Star team. /PN
