ILOILO City – The city government will be holding an essay writing contest tomorrow at Robinsons Place Jaro in celebration of the city’s 80th Charter Day.

It is open to all high school students from Grade 7 to 10 enrolled in any public or private schools in the city.

The activity aims to provide venue for high school students to express their ideas on the significance of the celebration and on how Iloilo City has evolved into a highly urbanized city.

The content of the essay will revolve on this year’s theme, “Celebrating 80 years of Ilonggo Culture and Pride.”

During the competition, participants will write the essay in English – not less than 300 and not more than 500 words, within one hour.

The winning essays will be judged as to the following:

  • mechanics – 20 percent

  • organization – 30 percent

  • content – 40 percent

  • style – 10 percent

The champion will receive P4,000; second placer, P3, 000; and third placer, P2,000 and certificates of recognition. (Iloilo City PIO/PN)
