MANILA – If she will be charged with a non-bailable offense, Sen. Leila de Lima on Tuesday hoped she’d be placed in a “safe” and “secure” detention facility.
“Marami na hong nangyayari ‘di ba pinapatay sa loob ng selda,” de Lima said at a press briefing.
Earlier, Justice secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II said that the resolution on the senator’s drug cases will be out soon.
De Lima, who was accused of receiving money from convicted drug lords, vowed not to resist arrest.
“Wala naman po akong magagawa. How can I resist? I cannot physically resist. I am morally and psychologically resisting it because I am innocent absolutely,” the former secretary of the Department of Justice said.
“Hindi po ako tatakas, hindi po ako magtatago, hindi po ako pupunta ng ospital, hindi po ako mag-we-wheelchair at neck brace. Wala po akong balak na ganoon.”
De Lima, meanwhile, told reporters she is ready for her possible arrest. According to her, she will bring only one luggage of “comfortable clothes.”
The senator also talked about her imminent arrest with her family.
“Sabi ko tatagan lang nila ang loob nila… Syempre, malungkot sila. Kasi bakit gusto ko maging psychologically prepared? Kasi ayaw ko naman na pag biglang nangyari ay mabibigla sila and then hindi rin nila alam ang gagawin,” de Lima ended./PN
