MANILA – Malcolm Hill posted decent numbers but Star Hotshots decided to part ways with him and tapped Icelandic Kristofer Acox as new import in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

The 6-foot-6 Acox, an undrafted player in the 2017 NBA Rookie Draft, was part of the Iceland national men’s basketball team that competed in the EuroBasket2017 in Helsinki, Finland recently.

In five matches with the Icelandic national squad, the 23-year-old Acox posted averages of 7 points and 3.2 rebounds in an off-the-bench role.

Before joining Hotshots, the Furman University alumnus spent four seasons with Körfuknattleiksdeild KR in Iceland Men’s Premier League. His team recently won the league championship.

With Hill in tow, Hotshots won three straight matches – against Alaska Aces, San Miguel Beermen and Phoenix Fuel Masters – before a losing skid against Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings and Meralco Bolts.

On Friday evening, Hill finished with 32 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, five steals, and two blocks to lead Hotshots to a 109-83 victory over GlobalPort Batang Pier and snap their three-game slide.

The 21-year-old Hill, who averaged 25.0 points and 11.7 rebounds in seven games, could play his final game with Hotshots tonight against TNT KaTropa at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City./PN
